Generative AI Policy
1. GENERAL PROVISIONS & STATUTORY AUTHORSHIP
-
AI Cannot Be Recognized as an Author (Non-Authorship): In accordance with COPE guidelines and the Director General of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Decree No. 374/2026, Generative AI technologies or Large Language Models (LLMs), such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, and others, are not eligible to be recognized as Authors or Co-Authors .
-
Authors' Legal Responsibility: Authorship entails legal and ethical responsibility for the accuracy of research, originality, and data integrity. Since AI tools do not possess legal standing to be held accountable for manuscript content, all citations, ideas, syntheses, and data generated or assisted by AI remain under the full responsibility of the human Author.
2. PERMITTED USE OF AI
MAVIB Journal permits the use of AI-based tools only within the following supporting functions:
-
Language and Grammar Improvement (Language Proofreading): The use of AI to correct spelling, grammar, sentence structure clarity, and manuscript readability (e.g., Grammarly and limited paraphrasing using QuillBot).
-
Data Processing and Scientific Analysis Tools: The use of Machine Learning algorithms, image/video processing, or AI-generated synthesis when these constitute the primary subject of research in the fields of Multimedia, Audiovisual, 3D Modelling, Animation, UI/UX, or Game Development.
-
Reference Management Tools: The use of AI-powered literature search tools to organize citations and references, such as Mendeley, Zotero, ResearchRabbit, and Elicit.
3. PROHIBITED USE OF AI
The following applications of AI are considered serious violations of publication ethics and may result in manuscript rejection (desk rejection) or article retraction:
-
Main Text Generation (Auto-Generated Text): Using AI to automatically write or generate the main sections of a manuscript from scratch, including the Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, or Conclusion.
-
Fabrication of Visuals or Scientific Images: Using AI image generators, such as Midjourney, DALL-E, or Stable Diffusion, to manipulate or falsify visual data obtained from empirical research, unless the AI-generated images themselves constitute the objects or assets being examined in design or multimedia research.
-
Uploading Manuscript Drafts by Reviewers (Reviewer Privacy): Reviewers are strictly prohibited from uploading Authors' manuscript drafts to public AI systems for the purpose of conducting peer reviews, as this violates confidentiality and the copyright of scholarly works.
4. AI TRANSPARENCY DECLARATION REQUIREMENTS
All Authors who use Generative AI technologies during manuscript preparation must provide a transparent declaration in the Article Declarations section, placed before the References section of the manuscript.
AI Declaration Text Format for Manuscripts
AI Usage Declaration (AI Declaration):
"The Author declares that, in preparing this manuscript, [Name of AI Tool, e.g., Grammarly / ChatGPT] was used solely to assist with improving grammar and the readability of the English text. All ideas, data analyses, syntheses, and conclusions presented in this article are the original scholarly work of the Author, who retains full responsibility for their content."
(Note: If no AI tools were used, state: "The Author declares that no Generative AI technologies were used in the preparation of this manuscript.")
