Authorship Criteria

Journal CERITA (Creative Education of Research in Information Technology and Artificial Informatics) adheres to strict standards regarding authorship to ensure accountability and fairness in scientific publishing. Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study.

Core Authorship Criteria

To be listed as an author in Journal CERITA, every individual must fulfill all four (4) of the following criteria:

  1. Substantial Contributions: Significant involvement in the conception or design of the work; or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data for the work.
  2. Drafting and Revising: Drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content.
  3. Final Approval: Giving final approval of the version to be published.
  4. Accountability: Agreeing to be accountable for all aspects of the work, ensuring that questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.

Non-Authorship Contributions (Acknowledgments)

Individuals who participated in the research but do not meet all four criteria above should not be listed as authors. Instead, they should be mentioned in the Acknowledgments section. Examples of non-authorship contributions include:

  • Providing technical assistance or laboratory support.
  • Proofreading, language editing, or formatting the manuscript.
  • General supervision or administrative support of the research group.
  • Providing funding, acquisition of funding, or materials.

Prohibited Authorship Practices

Journal CERITA strictly prohibits unethical authorship practices, including:

  • Ghost Authorship: Excluding individuals who made significant contributions to the manuscript.
  • Guest/Gift Authorship: Including individuals who did not contribute significantly to the study (e.g., adding names based on seniority, friendship, or institutional politics).
  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) Authorship: AI tools (such as ChatGPT) cannot be listed as authors or co-authors. The use of AI for writing or data analysis must be clearly disclosed in the methodology or acknowledgment section.

Corresponding Author Responsibilities

The Corresponding Author acts as the primary contact between the journal and all co-authors during the submission, review, and publication process. Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring all eligible co-authors are included and no unqualified names are listed.
  • Obtaining consent from all co-authors regarding the final version of the manuscript before submission.
  • Handling all communications regarding revisions, copyright transfer, and final publication approvals.
