Plagiarism Policy
Plagiarism Policy
Journal CERITA (Creative Education of Research in Information Technology and Artificial Informatics) maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy toward any forms of plagiarism, data fabrication, and redundant publication. All manuscripts submitted to the journal must be entirely original and free from unethical copying practices.
To ensure the integrity of the published research, the Editorial Board enforces the following plagiarism screening and management regulations:
1. Plagiarism Screening Tool
Every submitted manuscript undergoes a rigorous automated plagiarism screening process before it is sent to the peer-review stage. Journal CERITA uses Turnitin as its primary software to detect text similarities and verify the originality of the work.
2. Threshold and Tolerance Limits
Journal CERITA establishes a strict similarity index threshold to maintain a high-quality standard:
- Maximum Similarity Index: The overall similarity score must not exceed 20%.
- Individual Source Limit: The similarity with any single external source or published document must not exceed 3%.
- Exclusions: The automated similarity check will exclude properly formatted citations, quotes, and the bibliography section.
3. Editorial Actions and Decisions
Based on the Turnitin screening results, the Editorial Office will take the following actions:
- Passed (Score ≤ 20%): The manuscript will proceed smoothly to the next stage, which is the Initial Editorial Screening and Peer Review Process.
- Revision Required (Score between 21% – 30%): The manuscript will not be rejected immediately. It will be returned to the authors with an instruction to rephrase, rewrite, or properly paraphrase the highlighted sections. The authors must resubmit the corrected version within the specified deadline.
- Immediate Rejection (Score > 30%): The manuscript will be instantly rejected (Desk Rejection) without being sent for peer review. The editorial office will notify the authors regarding the severe violation of the plagiarism policy.
4. Types of Plagiarism Prohibited
Journal CERITA strictly monitors and penalizes various forms of plagiarism, including:
- Direct Plagiarism: Verbatim copying of text from another author's work without using quotation marks or providing proper attribution.
- Self-Plagiarism (Text-Recycling): Reusing significant portions of the author's own previously published work without explicit cross-referencing.
- Paraphrasing Without Citation: Rewriting someone else's ideas or data in the author's own words but failing to provide the original reference.
- Patchwork Plagiarism: Mosaic copying, where the author stitches together phrases and sentences from various sources without clear citations.
If a severe act of plagiarism or data fabrication is proven after an article has been published, Journal CERITA will follow the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines to issue a formal Article Retraction notice on the website.
